Traditional methods of releasing and cleaning scale build-up in wells are expensive, time consuming and often include use of toxic chemicals. SGA-1A is a semi noncorrosive, low pH acid that is an environmentally safe alternative.
Within 24-36 hours after adding SGA-1A to a well casing hole at a 20% rate per volume, scales are released from the metal pipes and pump. Simply pour the product down the hole, agitate briefly once by turning the well pump on and off, and SGA-1A immediately begins to dissolve the scaling.
A 2000 gallon-per-minute well constricted by scaling is reduced to 300 gallons- per-minute. Return to full production occurs within 36 hours.
SGA-1A will completely dissolve Calcium, Iron, Zinc, and Magnesium with no adverse environmental impact. Its ingredients are listed on Codex General Standard and GRAS and has a Hazardous Materials Identification System rating of zero.i SGA-1A has no toxic fumes.
Even though SGA-1A is a semi noncorrosive solution, it is safe for workers to handle. Whereas other acids can cause burning, SGA-1A is comparable to water with a level 0.02 on a scale of 0 to 5. Also, when mixed with water, SGA-1A causes no exothermic or excessive heat reactions. Because it has the acidic level of water, SGA-1A eliminates many hazardous conditions associated with use, handling, storage and transportation of conventional acids.
“SGA-1A will be as important to water conservation as well as energy efficiency for wells and pumps,” said Bruce Coulthard. “The beauty of SGA-1A is that is has a zero footprint. It’s readily biodegradable and breaks down to water and oxygen.”
i The Codex General Standard and Codex Alimentarius are standards developed by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), joined by the World Health Organization (WHO). The Codex Alimentarius is a collection of internationally recognized standards, codes of practice, guidelines and other recommendations relating to foods, food production and food safety.
“Generally recognized as safe” (GRAS) is an American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) designation that a chemical or substance added to food is considered safe by experts, and so is exempted from the usual Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA) food additive tolerance requirements.
